Regular Season Round 19: Torun - AZS Koszalin 84-77

There was no surprise in Torun where 10th ranked AZS Koszalin (9-11) was defeated by third ranked Twarde Pierniki (16-5) 84-77 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 7 points at the halftime before their 48-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Twarde Pierniki made 20-of-21 free shots (95.2 percent) during the game. Twarde Pierniki outrebounded AZS Koszalin 39-27 including 27 on the defensive glass. American point guard Danny Gibson (177-84, college: S.Indiana) fired a double-double by scoring 23 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists for the winners. The former international Lukasz Wisniewski (186-84, college: Barton Co. CC, agency: Promotex) chipped in 21 points and 5 rebounds. Four Twarde Pierniki players scored in double figures. Czech Patrik Auda (206-89, college: Seton Hall) produced 19 points and 8 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and forward Artur Mielczarek (196-83) added 17 points respectively for lost side. AZS Koszalin's coach David Dedek rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Twarde Pierniki have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. AZS Koszalin at the other side dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Twarde Pierniki will face Slask (#14) in Wroclaw in the next round which should be an easy win for them. AZS Koszalin will play at home against MKS Start and hope to win that game.
