The game had a very big importance for third-ranked Bucaneros as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Bucaneros defeated 10th ranked Gigantes in La Guaira 77-73. The hosts trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 77-73. Bucaneros forced 21 Gigantes turnovers. Strangely Gigantes outrebounded Bucaneros 40-25 including 30 on the defensive glass. Spanish-Dominican power forward Edward Santana (203-80) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners and the former international guard Jesus Centeno (190-85) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Bucaneros have a solid series of three victories in a row. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Marinos.
