Regular Season Round 27: Azad - Petrochimi 63-70

Superleague top team - Petrochimi (21-4) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked Azad (15-10) in Tehran 70-63. Azad was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Petrochimi shot 23 for 34 from the free-throw line, while Azad only scored six points from the stripe. Azad was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international Behnam Yakhchali (197-95) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. The former international center Meisam Mirzaei (210-92) helped adding 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was international power forward Rouzbeh Arghavan (214-88) with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds and American Tony Weeden (183-83, college: Chicago St., agency: Three Eye Sports) scored 19 points. Azad's coach Mostafa Hashemi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Petrochimi. They maintain first place with 21-4 record. Azad lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost.
