Second Stage Round 3: Saldus - Limbazi 86-91

Very important is a home loss of Saldus (6-5) against Limbazi (7-5) on Tuesday night. Host Saldus were defeated by Limbazi in a tough game in Saldus 86-91. It looked good early as Saldus took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Limbazi had a 28-10 second period charge getting the lead and Saldus were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 86-91. Limbazi made 22-of-24 charity shots (91.7 percent) during the game. Limbazi had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for point guard Armands Osins (190-91) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!). Guard Vents Veinbergs (188-93) contributed with 25 points for the winners. Guard Karlis Zunda (192-97) answered with 23 points and 6 rebounds and swingman Roberts Smidrins (190-95) added 20 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Saldus. Four Saldus players scored in double figures. Limbazi's next round opponent will be Pardaguava (#8) in Riga which should be theoretically an easy game. Saldus will play at home against VEF skola and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
