Tenth-ranked Atenas (14-22) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Penarol (19-15) in Cordoba. The visitors from Mar del Plata managed to secure only six-point victory 84-78. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Atenas. Atenas was ahead by 9 points at the halftime before a 29-19 third quarter run of Penarol. They tied the game at the end of regular time. Then they were better in overtime eventually winning that period 16-10. Penarol forced 19 Atenas turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Atenas helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of international swingman Nicolas Brussino (200-93) who helped to win the game recording 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Point guard Fabian Sahdi (189-89) contributed with 18 points for the winners. The former international Diego Lo Grippo (198-78) answered with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds and the former international Gabriel Mikulas (200-80, college: E.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) added 16 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Atenas. Four Penarol and five Atenas players scored in double figures. Penarol moved-up to third place. Atenas at the other side keeps the tenth position with 22 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
