Bottom-ranked Ciudad managed to get a tenth victory on Thursday night. This time newly promoted Ciudad outleveled seventh-ranked Gigantes in Ciudad Juarez 103-70. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 33-point difference proves that Ciudad was well-prepared to that game. The game without a history. Ciudad led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Gigantes' players. Naturalized American guard Justin Avalos (190-87, college: Western St.) fired 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American center James Williams (204-79, college: Brown Mackie, agency: DTMones) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Five Ciudad and four Gigantes players scored in double figures. Gigantes' coach Jorge Toussaint gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Ciudad (10-24) moved-up to tenth place. Loser Gigantes dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. Ciudad will again meet at home higher ranked Gigantes (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Gigantes will have a break next round.
