Very important is a road loss of third ranked Bucaneros (11-5) against ninth ranked Toros (5-10) on Thursday night. Visiting Bucaneros were edged by Toros in a tough game in Maracay 88-89. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Bucaneros. Bucaneros were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Andre Barrett (180-82, college: Seton Hall) nailed 22 points and 5 assists for the winning side and the former international swingman Rafael Perez (193-82, agency: Paris Global Sports) accounted for 21 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Hector Romero (202-80, college: New Orleans) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds and Spanish-Dominican power forward Edward Santana (203-80) added 16 points and 14 rebounds respectively for Bucaneros in the defeat. Bucaneros at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. They share it with Marinos.
