Date: February 12, 2016
Second ranked Conquero (15-4) crushed at home 8th ranked Universitario de Ferrol (8-11) by 21 points 84-63, which is the biggest margin this round on Friday night. The game without a history. Conquero led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Conquero outrebounded Universitario de Ferrol 41-25 including a 30-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Universitario de Ferrol's players. Worth to mention a quality performance of American forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording 23 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) helped adding 14 points and 14 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the losing side American forward Shae Kelley (185-91, college: Minnesota) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds and international guard Laura Quevedo (185-96, college: Miami, FL) scored 11 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Conquero. They maintain second place with 15-4 record having just three points less than leader Avenida. Loser Universitario de Ferrol keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Conquero will face Socinsa Bembibre (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Universitario de Ferrol will play against Gernika and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
