Very important is a home loss of second ranked Kutaisi (10-7) against seventh ranked Energy Invest (7-10) on Friday night. Host Kutaisi was defeated by Energy Invest in Kutaisi 73-61. The game was mostly controlled by Energy Invest. Kutaisi was better in second period 13-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The former international point guard Giorgi Gamqrelidze (183-86) stepped up and scored 24 points and 7 assists for the winners and Serbian forward Nikola Gacesa (206-87, college: TCU) chipped in 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Energy Invest players scored in double figures. Croatian guard Ivan Mikulic (194-91) responded with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Levan Tsekvava (190-89) scored 14 points. Kutaisi's coach Kote Tugushi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Energy Invest maintains seventh place with 7-10 record. Loser Kutaisi dropped to the third position with seven games lost. Energy Invest will face league's second-placed Batumi on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kutaisi will play against Sokhumi in Tbilisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
