LSB top team - Villa Clara (11-5) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat sixth ranked Guantanamo (6-9) 86-82. Strangely Guantanamo outrebounded Villa Clara 31-19 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was international center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) who scored 25 points and 9 rebounds. Osvaldo Perez chipped in 22 points and 8 steals. Swingman Elvis Pons (194-83) produced 20 points and 5 rebounds and guard Raudelis Guerra (191-93) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Four Villa Clara and five Guantanamo players scored in double figures. Villa Clara have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 11-5 record. Loser Guantanamo keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Villa Clara will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Guantanamo will play again against the league's leader Villa Clara (#1) and hope to secure a win.
