Second Stage Round 3: Livani - Jekabpils II 81-74

There was a minor upset when Jekabpils II (4-9) was defeated on the road by Livani (4-8) 81-74 on Friday. Jekabpils II was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. They outrebounded Jekabpils II 50-29 including a 21-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jekabpils II was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for swingman Eduards Kikuts (193-88) who led his team to a victory scoring 25 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Eduards Viksna (198-93) helped adding 17 points and 12 rebounds. Four Livani players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was forward Davis Gutmanis (195-97) with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds and swingman Lauris Berzins (190-97) scored 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jekabpils II's coach Andris Cerjaks rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Livani will face RSU in Riga in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
