An interesting game took place in Koroivos where higher ranked Nea Kifisia (8-10) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Koroivos (7-11) 87-77. The hosts were ahead by 1 point but lost the second period ending it with a 2-point deficit before their 32-20 run, which allowed them to win the game. Koroivos dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Nea Kifisia's 32 and made 20-of-22 charity shots (90.9 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Nea Kifisia 37-25 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Nea Kifisia was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American center Darrell Harris (205-84, college: Rhode Island) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 11 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the effort and Slovenian-Serbian point guard Aleksandar Capin (186-82) supported him with 22 points and 5 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Even 22 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) by forward Leonidas Kaselakis (202-90) did not help to save the game for Nea Kifisia. Point guard Nikos Gikas (186-91, agency: Octagon Europe) added 9 points and 5 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Koroivos moved-up to eighth place, which they share with AGOR and Kolossos. Nea Kifisia at the other side keeps the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Apollon Patras and PAOK. Koroivos will play against higher ranked Aris (#4) in Thessaloniki in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Nea Kifisia will play at home against Kavala and hopes to get back on the winning track.
