Regular Season Round 19: Miedzychod - Gniezno 97-75

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked Gniezno (0-19) was outscored on the road by fourth ranked Miedzychod (13-6) 97-75 on Saturday. Miedzychod dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Gniezno's 36. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Gniezno's players. Quite impressive performance for swingman Jakub Nowak (188-89) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 9 rebounds. Marcin Chodkiewicz (200-82, agency: Promotex) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Forward Dariusz Dobrzycki (193-84) answered with 18 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Mateusz Bilski (199-89) added 10 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Gniezno. Five Miedzychod and four Gniezno players scored in double figures. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Miedzychod moved-up to third place in Group D, which they share with Rawia. Gniezno lost their nineteenth game in a row. Newly promoted team still closes the standings with 19 games lost. Miedzychod will face Olesnica (#8) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Gniezno will play against AZS PP (#9) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
