Regular Season Round 38: Indios - Gigantes 94-95

A very interesting game took place in Ciudad Juarez. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 10th ranked Ciudad (10-25) to eighth ranked Gigantes (13-21) 95-94 on Saturday evening. Gigantes dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Ciudad's 36. American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) notched 33 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) supported him with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Even 31 points and 5 rebounds by American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) did not help to save the game for Ciudad. His fellow American import swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) added 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Gigantes moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Ciudad dropped to the bottom position with 25 games lost. Gigantes' next round opponent will be league's leader Soles in Mexicali and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
