Everything went according to plan when ninth ranked Umbertide (10-13) beat on the road 11th ranked Orvieto (7-16) 78-73 on Saturday. They outrebounded Orvieto 36-25 including 28 on the defensive glass. American guard Meighan Simmons (175-92, college: Tennessee) fired 35 points (!!!) (made all of her eight free throws) for the winners. Canadian power forward Wumi Agunbiade (188-92, college: Duquesne) chipped in 22 points. Croatian swingman Jelena Ivezic (182-84) produced 24 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) added 19 points respectively for lost side. Umbertide moved-up to seventh place. Orvieto lost their third game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 16 games lost. Umbertide will meet at home league's second-placed Ragusa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orvieto will play against Familia Schio (#3) and hope to secure a win.
