Regular Season Round 18: Benidorm - Paterna 58-59

Important game to mention about took place in Benidorm. Fifth ranked Paterna (9-8) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Benidorm (6-11) 59-58 on Saturday evening. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Benidorm won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for power forward Jacobo Ijeilat (201-83) who saved his team from a defeat with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Victor Arnau (184-91) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Forward Javier Rodriguez (202-84) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and American forward Joscar Demby (203-88, college: Millikin) added 13 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Benidorm. Benidorm's coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Paterna have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fifth position in Group E with 9-8 record. Loser Benidorm keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. Paterna will face league's second-placed Almassera in Valencia in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Benidorm will play on the road against the league's leader Gandia Basquet (#1) and hope to win that game.
