There was no surprise in Valencia where 13th ranked Andratx (3-15) was outplayed by ninth ranked Picken Claret (8-10) 68-44 on Saturday. The game without a history. Picken Claret led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Andratx to just 7 points in third quarter. Picken Claret held Andratx to an opponent 20.3 percent shooting from the field compared to 38.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Picken Claret forced 22 Andratx turnovers and outrebounded them 53-31 including a 20-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Power forward Patricia Soler (186-94, agency: Regeneracom Sports) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Laura Garcia (170-93) chipped in 14 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Picken Claret's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Belen Mejias (180-91) with 18 points and 9 rebounds and Neus Amengual (-95) scored 10 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Newly promoted Picken Claret maintains ninth position in Group B with 8-10 record. Andratx lost ninth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 15 games lost. Picken Claret will face Barcelona (#14) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Andratx will play against Almeria and hope to win that game.
