Regular Season Round 18: Sagunto - Myrtia 49-69

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Sagunto (3-14) was outleveled by fourth ranked Myrtia (11-5) in Gilet 69-49 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 69-49. Myrtia dominated on the defensive end, holding Sagunto to just 5 points in second quarter. Sagunto was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for forward Jorge Lledo (203-80) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Chadian center Edmond Koyanouba (207-95) contributed with 9 points for the winners. Forward Alejandro Alcaniz (192-89) replied with 10 points and 5 rebounds and Luis Ferrando (185-96, college: Mount Olive) added 9 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sagunto. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Myrtia have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place in Group E. Sagunto lost fourth consecutive game. Sagunto at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Myrtia's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Murcia UCAM Murcia II.
