Regular Season Round 18: Real Madrid II - Tenerife Naut. 79-65

There was a minor upset when one of their biggest challengers Tenerife Naut. (8-6) lost on the road to seventh ranked Real Madrid II (8-7) 79-65 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Real Madrid II. Tenerife Naut. was better in second period 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Real Madrid II won last quarter 26-14. They also forced 20 Tenerife Naut. turnovers and outrebounded them 35-18 including 21 on the defensive glass. Tenerife Naut. was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for center Pablo Rodrigo (204-86) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 9 rebounds. Forward David Marina (202-88) contributed with 13 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Swedish point guard Valter Lindstrom (180-95) replied with 19 points and guard Roberto de la Rosa (193-85) added 13 points and 4 steals in the effort for Tenerife Naut.Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Real Madrid II maintains seventh position in Group B with 8-7 record. Loser Tenerife Naut. dropped to the sixth place with six games lost. Real Madrid II will face Villarrobledo (#12) at home in the next round where they are favorite.
