Regular Season Round 18: Santurtzi - Zarautz 82-59

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Zarautz (3-11) was outleveled on the road by fifth ranked Santurtzi (11-3) 82-59 on Saturday. The game without a history. Santurtzi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Zarautz's 32. Santurtzi forced 19 Zarautz turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Juan Torres (196-92) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Santurtzi's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Aitzol Eguskitza (193-90) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Jon Saez (182-90) added 16 points in the effort for Zarautz. Santurtzi moved-up to second place in Group A-A, which they share with Estela and Ardoi. Zarautz lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the eleventh position with 11 games lost. Santurtzi will face Venta de Banos (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zarautz will play against Estela in Santander and hope to win that game.
