Regular Season Round 18: Clinicas Rincon - Cambados 64-81

There was a minor upset in Malaga where 10th ranked Clinicas Rincon (7-11) was defeated by twelfth ranked Cambados (7-11) 81-64 on Saturday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Cambados's pressure prevailed and they won that period 25-12 extending their advantage to 17 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Clinicas Rincon's 26. Clinicas Rincon was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. Cape Verdean-Portuguese forward Joel Almeida (195-85, college: Brockport St.) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and point guard Sergi Quintela (182-96) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four Cambados players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Brazilian guard Carlos Cobos (193-88) with 13 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Congolese forward Judicael Belemene (205-97) scored 20 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Cambados moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Clinicas Rincon and Zornotza. Cambados will face league's second-placed Araberri in Vitoria-Gasteiz in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
