Regular Season Round 18: Ensino - GDKO Bizkaia 64-65

Seventh-ranked Maquinaria Ensino (10-8) gave a tough game to second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (15-3) in Lugo. The visitors from Galdakao managed to secure only one-point victory 65-64. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Maquinaria Ensino. The guests were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 4-point deficit before their 23-18 run, which allowed them to win the game. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and power forward Jone Azkue (180-95) supported her with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Even 24 points and 6 rebounds by guard Tamara Montero (168-94) did not help to save the game for Maquinaria Ensino. Forward Raquel Asensio (178-83) added 24 points. GDKO Bizkaia have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group A with 15-3 record behind leader Alcobendas. Maquinaria Ensino at the other side keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will play against Adareva (#4) in SC Laguna in the next round. Maquinaria Ensino will play on the road against Araski AES in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hopes to get back on the winning track.
