Regular Season Round 19: Viterbo - Ferrara 52-78

Everything went according to plan when second ranked Ferrara (17-2) outplayed on the road 6th ranked Viterbo (10-9) 78-52 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Ferrara. Viterbo was better in second period 22-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 3 points in fourth quarter. Ferrara dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Viterbo's 24. They outrebounded Viterbo 52-24 including a 39-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a very good performance for Argentinian swingman Macarena Rosset (178-91, agency: Players Group) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Power forward Alice Nori (183-93) contributed with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Ferrara players scored in double figures. Bulgarian forward Roksana Yordanova (184-84) answered with 15 points and guard Lorenza Spirito (178-90) added 13 points in the effort for Viterbo. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Ferrara maintains second place in A2 with 17-2 record having four points less than leader Broni. Viterbo at the other side keeps the sixth position with nine games lost. Ferrara will face Irpino (#11) in Ariano Irpino in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Viterbo will play on the road against Palermo (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
