Regular Season Round 20: Catz - HyPo 70-63

Date: February 13, 2016
Everything went according to plan when first ranked Catz Lappeenranta (20-1) beat at home 3rd ranked HyPo (12-7) 70-63 on Saturday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-14. But HyPo won second period 16-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Catz Lappeenranta made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American power forward Chandra Harris (185-89, college: Georgia St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and the other American import guard Jennifer Schlott (168-91, college: Utah St., agency: LBM Management) who added 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. The former international power forward Laura Saarinen (186-92) responded with 6 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Merit Management Group) scored 14 points. HyPo's coach Tero Niskanen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive 18-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 20-1 record. HyPo at the other side keeps the third place with seven games lost. Catz Lappeenranta will face league's second-placed ViVe in Vimpeli in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. HyPo will play at home against Peli-Karhut and hope to win that game.
