Regular Season Round 18: Camaguey - Santiago 63-77
Date: February 13, 2016
We should not miss the game where eighth ranked Santiago (4-11) against higher ranked Tigres (7-8) where Santiago won on the road by fourteen points 77-63. Santiago forced 29 Tigres turnovers. Eddy Hechevarria (193-86) notched 22 points and 8 rebounds to lead the effort and international forward Esteban Martinez (192-87) supported him with 27 points (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Santiago's coach Lazaro Guibot used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds by forward Keiler Cala (195-94) did not help to save the game for Tigres. Luis Castillo added 14 points and 7 rebounds. Santiago maintains eighth position with 4-11 record. Tigres at the other side keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Santiago's next round opponent will be higher ranked Guantanamo (#6) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Tigres will play against the league's second-placed Villa Clara where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
