Regular Season Round 16: Landes - Nice 49-51

The most exciting game of round 16 in the LFB took place in Mont de Marsan. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of one of their biggest challengers Basket Landes (11-5) to fifth ranked Nice (11-5) 51-49 in the game for the fourth place. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Basket Landes. Basket Landes was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Nice made 17-of-20 free shots (85.0 percent) during the game. Nice outrebounded Basket Landes 51-31 including 36 on the defensive glass. American forward Courtney Hurt (185-90, college: VCU) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Belgian point guard Hind Ben Abdelkader (172-95, college: California, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. International guard Alexia Plagnard (172-90) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and Canadian power forward Miranda Ayim (191-88, college: Pepperdine) added 6 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Nice moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Landes. Nice is looking forward to face Lyon (#7) at home in the next round. Basket Landes will play against the league's second-placed Bourges and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
