Regular Season Round 38: Pioneros - Halc.Rojos 88-56

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Cancun. Second ranked Pioneros faced 4th ranked Halcones Rojos. Host Pioneros (30-4) smashed guests from Veracruz (19-17) 88-56. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Halcones Rojos. Pioneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by Halcones Rojos' players. The former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St., agency: Pro Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 26 points and 6 rebounds. American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) contributed with 14 points and 6 assists for the winners. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Adrian Henning (203-82, college: Austin Peay St., agency: Pro Sports) replied with 14 points and 7 rebounds and forward Jose Gutierrez (197-88) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Halcones Rojos. Four Halcones Rojos players scored in double figures. Pioneros maintains second position with 30-4 record having seven points less than leader Soles. Halcones Rojos at the other side keep the fourth place with 17 games lost. Pioneros will play against Correcaminos (#8) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round where they are favorite. Halcones Rojos will play at home against Santos (#9) and hope to get back on the winning track.
