Regular Season Round 21: Palma - Breogan 86-88

A very interesting game took place in S'Arenal. It ended with only two-point home defeat of higher ranked Palma (11-10) to eleventh ranked Leche Rio Breogan (10-11) 88-86 on Sunday evening. Palma was ahead by 8 points at the halftime before a 32-20 third quarter run of Leche Rio Breogan. They dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Palma's 34. The best player for the winners was naturalized Senegalese power forward Mamadou Samb (210-89) who scored 18 points and 8 rebounds. American-Cape Verdean point guard Jeffrey Xavier (189-85, college: Providence) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Five Leche Rio Breogan players scored in double figures. Leche Rio Breogan's coach Lisardo Gomez allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international power forward Ricardo Guillen (207-76, agency: Duran International) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and point guard Mikel Uriz (182-89) added 16 points and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) respectively. Leche Rio Breogan moved-up to tenth place, which they share with FC Barcelona II. Palma lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with ten games lost. Leche Rio Breogan's next round opponent will be higher ranked Burgos (#8) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Palma will play against Ourense and hope to win that game.
