Regular Season Round 15: Olympiacos Pireus - Athinaikos 70-46

A1 top team - Olympiacos Pireus (15-0) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed sixth ranked Athinaikos (7-8) in Ellinikou 70-46. Olympiacos Pireus dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Athinaikos' 32. Olympiacos Pireus forced 23 Athinaikos turnovers and outrebounded them 45-21 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great evening for American forward Lykendra Johnson (185-89, college: Michigan St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 19 rebounds. The former international swingman Olga Chatzinikolaou (181-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) helped adding 14 points. Four Olympiacos Pireus players scored in double figures. Olympiacos Pireus' coach Eleni Kapogianni felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Hailey Dunham (188-87, college: USC, agency: Merit Management Group) with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Zoi Niksina (178-96) scored 10 points. Olympiacos Pireus have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 15-0 record. Athinaikos at the other side dropped to the fifth position with eight games lost. They share it with Niki Lefkadas and Terpsithea. Olympiacos Pireus are looking forward to face PAOK (#3) in Thessaloniki in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Athinaikos will play at home against Proteas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
