Everything went according to plan when twelfth ranked Vasto (7-14) beat at home 14th ranked Martina Franca (5-16) 68-56 on Sunday. Vasto made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Andrea Tracchi (175-86) stepped up and scored 18 points and 8 assists (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners and center Andrea Casettari (200-85) chipped in 13 points and 12 rebounds. Four Vasto players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Argentinian forward Andres Bergamin (195-93) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Gaetano Spera (209-93, college: St.Peter's, agency: Players Group) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 14 rebounds. Vasto moved-up to eleventh place in B, which they share with Volpino and Pavia. Loser Martina Franca dropped to the fifteenth position with 16 games lost. Vasto will face higher ranked Ortona (#5) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Martina Franca will play against the league's second-placed San Severo (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
