Regular Season Round 21: Treviso Basket - C.de Latte BRE 93-87 OT

C.de Latte BRE (#2) forced the game against Treviso Basket (#1) into an overtime, but lost by six points 87-93 on Sunday night. It was a key game for the top position in A2. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 29-21. But C.de Latte BRE won second period 17-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where C.de Latte BRE used huge pressure winning it 24-14 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 12-18. Treviso Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to C.de Latte BRE's 32. Treviso Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. C.de Latte BRE was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international guard Matteo Fantinelli (195-93) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 8 rebounds and 10 assists for the winners and center Andrea Ancellotti (212-88) chipped in 15 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was naturalized American guard Mirza Alibegovic (197-92) with 22 points and American-Hungarian forward Damian Hollis (203-88, college: G.Washington) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Five Treviso Basket and four C.de Latte BRE players scored in double figures. Treviso Basket maintains first place in A2 with 16-5 record. C.de Latte BRE at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Treviso Basket will face Andrea Costa IM (#4) in Imola in the next round. C.de Latte BRE will play on the road against Tezenis VE in Verona and hope to win that game.
