Everything went according to plan in Firenze where second ranked Orzinuovi GaGa (18-2) beat 13th ranked Fiorentina (6-15) 89-84 on Sunday. The former international Rodolfo Valenti (198-80) stepped up and scored 20 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Antonio Ruggiero (190-81, agency: SPORTlab Agency) chipped in 18 points and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was naturalized Ivorian guard Mohamed Toure (190-92, agency: Players Group) with 25 points and 7 assists and point guard Simone Lasagni (184-94) scored 23 points. Five Orzinuovi GaGa and four Fiorentina players scored in double figures. Orzinuovi GaGa maintains second place in B with 18-2 record behind leader Forli. Fiorentina lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Orzinuovi GaGa will face Desio (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Fiorentina will play against Pavia (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
