Regular Season Round 21: Palestrina - Venafro 98-57

There was no surprise in Roma where 15th ranked Venafro (3-18) was outplayed by third ranked Palestrina (16-5) 98-57 on Sunday. Palestrina dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Venafro's 22. They outrebounded Venafro 46-19 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Palestrina looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 5 passes made by Venafro's players. Power forward Giacomo Cicognani (205-92, agency: Players Group) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and Matteo Pierangeli (201-92) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds. Five Palestrina players scored in double figures. Palestrina's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was guard Mario Tamburrini (187-94) with 18 points and guard Raffaele Minchella (185-91) scored 8 points. Palestrina maintains third place in B with 16-5 record having just three points less than leader Forli. Loser Venafro dropped to the sixteenth position with 18 games lost. Palestrina will face Palermo (#5) on the road in the next round. Venafro will play against Roma Luiss (#10) and hope to win that game.
