Rather expected game when 11th ranked Roma S.Azzurra (8-13) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked Catanzaro (12-9) 71-66 on Sunday. Catanzaro shot 23 for 31 from the free-throw line, while Roma S.Azzurra only scored seven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Roma S.Azzurra 34-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Roma S.Azzurra was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Power forward Giacomo Sereni (202-84) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and guard Gianluca Carpanzano (188-95) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Four Catanzaro players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Mattia Da Campo (197-97) with 13 points and Montenegrin forward Todor Radonjic (200-97) scored 11 points and 5 rebounds. Roma S.Azzurra's coach Germano D'Arcangeli rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Catanzaro moved-up to seventh place in B, which they share with Vicenza. Loser Roma S.Azzurra dropped to the tenth position with 13 games lost. Catanzaro will face Scafati Cesarano (#9) on the road in the next round. Roma S.Azzurra will play against Viterbo SA and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
