There was an upset when higher ranked Palermo (13-8) was defeated on the road by fourteenth ranked Maddaloni (5-16) 71-63 on Sunday. Strangely Palermo outrebounded Maddaloni 44-17 including a 33-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Naturalized Argentinian Juan Manuel Caceres (199-84, agency: Interperformances) stepped up and scored 12 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Salvatore Desiato (180-82) chipped in 13 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was naturalized Spanish guard Bruno Ondo Mengue (193-92) with 19 points and 7 rebounds and naturalized Argentinian center Federico Requena (204-86, agency: Players Group) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Maddaloni moved-up to thirteenth place in B. Loser Palermo keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Maddaloni will face Fondi (#15) on the road in the next round.
