Regular Season Round 20: Pau-Lacq-Orthez - Le Mans 90-77

Round 20 in ProA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Pau where host Pau-Lacq-Orthez (12-8) beat league's leader Le Mans (14-6) 90-77 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Le Mans. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-77. Pau-Lacq-Orthez made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 assists. The other American import guard Lance Harris (195-84, college: Kansas St.) chipped in 19 points. Four Pau-Lacq-Orthez players scored in double figures. Beninese power forward Mouphtaou Yarou (204-90, college: Villanova) produced a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and power forward Petr Cornelie (211-95, agency: Comsport) added 11 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Pau-Lacq-Orthez have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with ASVEL. Le Mans at the other side still keeps top position with six games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Strasbourg who have the same record. Le Mans will play next round against strong Monaco trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Pau-Lacq-Orthez will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked JSF Nanterre at home.
