Regular Season Round 22: Rieti - Novipiu Casale 67-65

There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Rieti (9-13) edged at home 10th ranked Novipiu Casale (10-12) 67-65 on Wednesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Novipiu Casale won third quarter 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Rieti made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. Naturalized American power forward Cristopher Mortellaro (207-82, college: Drury) fired 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Dalton Pepper (196-90, college: Temple) chipped in 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. British-Canadian guard Kyle Johnson (195-88, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Two Points) produced 18 points and 7 rebounds and American guard TJ Bray (197-92, college: Princeton) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Newly promoted Rieti maintains thirteenth position in A2 with 9-13 record. Loser Novipiu Casale dropped to the twelfth place with 12 games lost. Rieti will face league's second-placed Agrigento on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
