Very expected game when 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-14) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Brasilia (14-7) 87-81 on Thursday. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 87-81. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Fulvio de Assis (188-81) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points and 7 assists. International Guilherme Giovannoni (203-80) helped adding 15 points and 6 rebounds. American point guard Jamaal Smith (175-85, college: N.Mexico) responded with 23 points and 5 assists (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line) and Mateus Dalla Barba (198-91) scored 17 points and 5 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sao Jose/Vinac's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Paulistano. Sao Jose/Vinac lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Brasilia will meet at home Liga Sorocaba (#12) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Vivo/Franca and hope to secure a win.
