Regular Season Round 39: Osaka Evessa - Fukuoka Rizing 89-70

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Osaka Evessa (25-11) smashed at home 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (14-22) 89-70 on Thursday. The game was mostly controlled by Osaka Evessa. Fukuoka Rizing was better in third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Osaka Evessa dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 40. Osaka Evessa forced 20 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward DeAngelo Casto (203-90, college: Washington St.) who had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Five Osaka Evessa players scored in double figures. Osaka Evessa's coach Dai Oketani used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) who recorded a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds and Josei Makoto added 20 points respectively. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Osaka Evessa. They maintain third place with 25-11 record having just one point less than leader Kyoto Hannar. Fukuoka Rizing lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eighth position with 22 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
