Regular Season Round 23: S.Jose/Unimed - Minas 59-89
Date: February 19, 2016
The game between closely ranked teams ended with tenth ranked Minas' (9-12) road victory over 11th ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (7-14) 89-59 on Friday. The game without a history. Minas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Minas outrebounded Sao Jose/Vinac 34-18 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for Puerto Rican guard Isaac Sosa Carrion (190-90, college: Canisius) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points and 4 assists. Rafa Oliveira (200-93) helped adding 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Minas players scored in double figures. American guard Scott Rodgers (191-87, college: Drexel, agency: DTMones) responded with 16 points and Pedro Lima (191-87) scored 10 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Minas maintains tenth place with 9-12 record. Sao Jose/Vinac lost third consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 14 games lost. Minas will meet at home higher ranked Paulistano (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sao Jose/Vinac will play against Vivo/Franca (#8) and hope to secure a win.
