Regular Season Round 22: Melilla - Penas Huesca 72-70

Important game to mention about took place in Melilla. Second ranked Melilla Baloncesto (16-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging one of their biggest challengers Lobe Huesca (13-9) 72-70 in the fight for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Lobe Huesca. Lobe Huesca cut a 14-point halftime deficit to two at the end of the game. They outrebounded Lobe Huesca 34-21 including a 25-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guard Marcos Suka-Umu (192-85, agency: Interperformances) notched 14 points and 7 assists to lead the effort and center Eduardo Hernandez-Sonseca (212-83) supported him with 8 points and 10 rebounds. Even 11 points and 4 steals by forward Joan Pardina (202-93) did not help to save the game for Lobe Huesca. Brazilian power forward Daniel Bordignon (206-96) added 12 points for lost side. Four Lobe Huesca players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Melilla Baloncesto maintains second position with 16-6 record having just three points less than leader Palencia. Lobe Huesca at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Oviedo. Melilla Baloncesto will play against bottom-ranked CB Prat (#16) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Lobe Huesca will play against Leyma Basquet (#7) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
