An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in La Habana. First ranked Villa Clara faced 3rd placed Capitalinos. Guests from Santa Clara (14-5) defeated host Capitalinos (11-6) 68-64. The best player for the winners was guard Neslier Abreu (187-93) who scored 13 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. International center Yoel Cubillas (204-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds. Five Villa Clara players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was power forward Arlen Alorda (198-86) who recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds and forward Angel Rey Alvarez (190-90) added 13 points, 7 assists and 7 steals respectively. Capitalinos' coach Rainel Panfet tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Villa Clara have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 14-5 record. Defending champion Capitalinos keep the third position with six games lost. Villa Clara will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Capitalinos will play again at home against the league's leader Villa Clara and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
