Regular Season Round 20: Trefl II Sopot - SMS PZKosz 74-78

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 7th ranked Trefl II Sopot (8-12) was defeated at home by eighth ranked SMS PZKosz (7-11) 78-74 on Saturday. SMS PZKosz forced 19 Trefl II Sopot turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 16 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Bartosz Majewski (186-97) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and 9 rebounds and guard Michal Kierlewicz (192-97) who added 9 points and 9 assists during the contest. Guard Damian Ciesielski (185-97) responded with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and guard Lukasz Kolenda (188-99) scored 25 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SMS PZKosz maintains eighth position in Group A with 7-11 record. Loser Trefl II Sopot keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. SMS PZKosz will face higher ranked AZS PGd (#4) in Gdansk in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
