Very expected game in Barcelona where 12th ranked Segle XXI (4-15) was defeated by second ranked Rivas Promete (15-4) 66-49 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Rivas Promete. Segle XXI was better in third quarter 23-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Segle XXI to just 6 points in second quarter. Forward Marta Blanes (184-77, agency: Josep and Nicolas) fired 17 points for the winners. Guard Regina Gomez (173-82, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 15 points. Forward Paula Ginzo (187-98) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and center Laia Sole (184-98) added 17 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Rivas Promete. Rivas Promete will face Plenilunio (#6) in Madrid in the next round. Segle XXI will play on the road against Olimpico 64 (#11) in Madrid and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
