Regular Season Round 19: GDKO Bizkaia - Adareva 75-71

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Galdakao. Second ranked GDKO Bizkaia faced 4th placed Adareva. Host GDKO Bizkaia (16-3) defeated guests from SC Laguna (13-6) 75-71. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Adareva won third quarter 25-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. GDKO Bizkaia made 20-of-26 charity shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 26 points and 14 rebounds. Naturalized Paraguayan guard Claudia Aponte (175-91, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 19 points and 4 assists for the winners. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Point guard Laura Fernandez (169-89) answered with 21 points and 6 rebounds and Chilean power forward Catalina Abuyeres (182-97) added 10 points and 15 rebounds in the effort for Adareva. Four Adareva players scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for GDKO Bizkaia. They maintain second place in Group A with 16-3 record behind leader Alcobendas. Newly promoted Adareva keeps the fourth position with six games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will play against league's leader Al-Qazeres in Caceres in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Adareva will play at home against Araski AES and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
