Regular Season Round 25: Jelgava - Valka/Valga 69-71

The most exciting game of round 25 in the LBL took place in Jelgava. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of 8th ranked Jelgava (7-18) to seventh ranked Valka/Valga (8-7) 71-69 in the game for the seventh place. Jelgava was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Valka/Valga looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international center Jurijs Aleksejevs (202-85) stepped up and scored 26 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and swingman Edgars Krumins (194-86) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side Lithuanian forward Augustinas Jankaitis (205-94) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds and Lithuanian point guard Augustas Suliauskas (180-95) scored 14 points and 6 assists. Newly promoted Valka/Valga maintains seventh place with 8-7 record. Jelgava lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 18 games lost. Valka/Valga are looking forward to face Barons Riga (#9) at home in the next round. Jelgava will have a break next round.
