Regular Season Round 11: Byblos - Homenetmen 97-103

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Byblos. Second ranked Homenetmen faced 4th placed Byblos. Guests from Beirut (8-2) defeated host Byblos (5-5) 103-97. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Byblos. Byblos were ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 32-17 charge of Homenetmen, which allowed them to win the game. They made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. Byblos were plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Norvel Pelle (208-93, college: Iona) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Dewayne Jackson (203-90, college: Morgan St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) contributed with 27 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Five Homenetmen players scored in double figures. American-Ukrainian guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) answered with 40 points (!!!) and international Jasmon Youngblood (195-84, college: Kent St.) added 26 points in the effort for Byblos. Byblos' coach Nenad Vucinic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Homenetmen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain second place with 8-2 record having just one point less than leader Al Riyadi. Byblos at the other side keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Tadamon and Moutahed. Homenetmen will play against Louaize (#8) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Byblos will play against Al Moutahed (#6) in Tripoli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
