Everything went according to plan in Santander where first ranked Pielagos (13-2) won against 6th ranked Cantbasket (8-6) 83-72 on Saturday. Pielagos made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Pielagos outrebounded Cantbasket 43-30 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Forward Miguel Molina (197-89) fired 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners (made all of his eight free throws). Senegalese center Abdoulaye Seck (205-92) chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. Four Pielagos players scored in double figures. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) produced 21 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import center Chris Matagrano (206-90, college: New Hampshire) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) respectively for lost side. Pielagos maintains first place in Group A-A with 13-2 record. Loser Cantbasket keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Pielagos will face Ardoi (#5) in Zizur Mayor in the next round. Cantbasket will play on the road against Easo in San Sebastian and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
