Regular Season Round 18: Olimpi - Mgzavrebi 64-68

Another interesting game was again a derby between two teams from Tbilisi: Mgzavrebi (#4) and Olimpi (#6). Olimpi was defeated at home 64-68 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Olimpi. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-12. But Olimpi won second period 12-10. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American center Reggie Murphy (208-91, college: Henderson St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds. Kakhaber Jintcharadze (195-93) contributed with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. British V.Islands forward Leslie Smith (203-91, college: Nebraska) replied with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds and American guard Jeremy Bynum (193-88, college: Jacksonville St.) added 12 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Olimpi. Mgzavrebi (10-8) moved-up to third place, which they share with Kutaisi and Sokhumi. Olimpi at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Mgzavrebi will play against Energy Invest (#7) in Rustavi in the next round. Olimpi will play on the road against Kutaisi and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
