Regular Season Round 19: Barcelona - Picken Claret 50-61

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Barcelona (2-17) was defeated at home by ninth ranked Picken Claret (9-10) 61-50 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 22-8 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Picken Claret forced 22 Barcelona turnovers. Power forward Patricia Soler (186-94, agency: Regeneracom Sports) fired 21 points for the winners. Marta Rabassa chipped in 9 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Maria Moreno (181-84) produced 12 points and power forward Claudia Baraut (185-94) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Picken Claret moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with IF Air Europa. Barcelona at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fourteenth position with 17 games lost. Picken Claret will face higher ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (#7) in Madrid in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Barcelona will play on the road against Almeria (#10) and hope to win that game.
